Flynns Beach Development Update

Construction has begun on the expansion project at Club Wyndham Flynns Beach at Port Macquarie, a project that will almost double inventory at the resort and provide a range of new Deluxe and Grand villas and, for the first time, Presidential villas. The project is slated to be finished in quarter three of 2020.

The development will expand the popular resort by 53 one, two, three and four-bedroom villas with a mix of deluxe, grand and presidential suites. Additional features include a new café, gym, games area, kids’ pool, common area pavilions and car parking, while the reception area will be relocated to the front of the property adjacent to the driveway.

A decision has been made to move away from the originally planned modular style construction for the following reasons;

  • Significant tree reductions that would have been required to be undertaken for modular installation (to allow for modular delivery truck and crane positioning), so as to ensure there is no disruption to the koala population on site. We wanted to avoid any possible negative impact on the koala habitat and the existing feeding trees that are required to be maintained on site. Any tree reduction was also expressly prohibited in the planning approvals.
  • Impact on the riparian zone (which is required to be constantly managed by an independent third party during all construction works) by constant heavy load truck movements that are required for modular delivery.
  • RMS (Roads and Maritime Services) and the Police were also strictly enforcing that each modular delivery load was required to be off the road and on site by 5.00am in the morning which would have a significant impact on all Wyndham residents and the local neighbourhood.

There is no change in internal design layout  or footprint on the land from the original plans, aside from the fact that the buildings will no longer be modular.

The expansion is on track for completion late this year to provide an enhanced and more enjoyable club resort experience.

Once complete, the development will provide a wider range of high quality accommodation in Port Macquarie for the club’s growing owner base.
