Hi all,
I hope you are well and enjoying time with your loved ones. We have a collection of fun and inspirational travel content here on the website while travel is restricted, so make sure you have a look.
In my third update, I wanted to share the status of the ongoing refurbishment at your resort at Phillip Island, a brand-new recreational space at Club Wyndham Port Douglas and the process behind a deep clean.
In 2019, we announced the acquisition of an additional 83 villas at Ramada Phillip Island – a move to help improve resort standards and support our growth.
Among these will be Grand and Deluxe villas, which will bring a new standard of luxury to the resort. All villas will boast refurbished kitchens and bathrooms, along with new furniture and beds and fresh paint.
Each Grand villa will feature a fireplace installed in the living area and a patio with a roof, perfect for sitting and enjoying the wide open spaces and native wildlife at the resort.
The project is slated to be completed in June – so soon after it reopens, you will be able to try a completely new club experience at Phillip Island.
Here are some shots of the villas:
The team at Club Wyndham Port Douglas is gearing up for your return. We now have a pool table for parents and older kids while the younger ones can enjoy a classic game of Jenga.
I can see it’s going to be a popular space! We’ll share photos soon.
We have released a roadmap of when we intend to reopen resorts in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand and Indonesia. You can see the schedule on the club website here and this will be updated when new information comes to hand.
This schedule of openings depends on the latest health and travel guidelines released by federal and state governments across the countries where we operate. Although we are seeing a more positive outlook and restrictions easing, the possibility of some changes to this plan still exists.
I have mentioned before that our teams have put this time to good use by bringing forward the year’s deep cleans. But what exactly does a deep clean entail?
If you have not heard the terminology, a deep clean is more than just making the bed, washing the linen and sweeping, mopping and wiping floors, windows and doors. It involves a meticulous process of cleaning every part of the room and conducting all the maintenance required to restore the room to as-new condition. In other words, the end result feels like you are walking into a new room.
A deep clean is so thorough that we usually remove the club apartment being cleaned from club inventory for few days to ensure it is done painstakingly. Our housekeeping teams follow procedures listed on our operational standards manual when they conduct a deep clean.
Here are some examples of what we do in a deep clean that goes above and beyond a regular clean:

A deep clean for resort facilities involves conducting all the maintenance, painting and clearing of debris required to bring them to a standard that is as close to new as possible.
By the time we re-open your resorts, we will have conducted deep cleans of more than 1,200 Club Wyndham South Pacific apartments, while another 206 will be provided to you in as-new condition after their refurbishments have been completed.
We have some new photos of the deep clean activities our resort teams are completing around the club portfolio at the moment. You can also see additional pictures in my first blog post, here.
