Our teams are continuing to progress our refurbishment and renewal program where we can, even as we closely monitor what appears to be a second COVID-19 wave in Melbourne and Sydney.

Cancellation update

We are responding to the latest travel and movement restrictions to control COVID-19 by amending our cancellation policy, so that you can retain your credits if it is necessary to cancel your reservation. You can read the latest cancellation policy here and we will be updating it regularly.

The COVID-19 situation is still fluid, so we are taking action as authorities announce any changes rather than endeavouring to predict their movements.

Our Owner Services team is back tomorrow from 8.30am to 2.30pm. Owing to the recent developments, our teams have been experiencing larger than usual call volumes across weekdays and we are confident the extended hours will help reduce waiting times.

Resort Manager series

We are beginning a series showcasing club destinations through the eyes of your Resort Managers, full of ideas and tips for you to take advantage of when you can next travel to each destination.

We understand, depending on where you live, you will be able to access different resorts at this time and that some owners are not presently in a position to travel. This video series is designed to help you plan your future holidays – to give you insight into destinations you have not yet visited and to help you get more out of your favourite places.

The first video in our series is with Oliver Hanson, General Manager of Club Wyndham Sydney.

Resort Report

Club Wyndham Flynns Beach

Onto what we are doing at our properties, works at Club Wyndham Flynns Beach are on track to be completed near the end of October 2020. Contractors on site are into stage four of the five-stage project, which incorporates a further 11 Deluxe and Grand Villas. The final stage will involve the construction of all eight Presidential Villas.

I am pleased to share with a video of the property’s spacious new reception area, which is now completed and in use. This project involved refurbishing the old preview centre with fresh paint, new flooring, an open-plan design, modern furnishings and new pieces of art. If you have not seen it yet, it is a much more welcoming and contemporary entry space.

The Developer’s preview centre has been located elsewhere on the property.

Please note that villas will be placed into the Club progressively once the entire project is finished, as there are still some finishing touches that will need to be applied over all stages.

Other features of the development include a new café, gym, kids’ pool, common area pavilions and additional car parking.

Other refurbishment projects

We have two other major projects in progress across the Club Wyndham South Pacific portfolio:

  • We are more than halfway through a refurbishment of all 88 club apartments at Club Wyndham Port Douglas. The rooms will be revitalised with fresh designs, resort-style furniture with timber accents, artwork and contemporary touches like built-in bedside lighting.
  • Contractors at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Phillip Island continue refurbishment of the existing club villas and the Developer is also working on refurbishment of the additional villas it has acquired to place into the club. Works on the club villas will finish later this quarter (quarter three).

In my last blog entry, I mentioned our new outdoor cinema screen at Ramada Phillip Island. This six-metre screen will usually be positioned on the grass area out the front of reception and restaurant, though it can be moved – for example, to take advantage of the pool in the summer.

At this stage, we intend to start a family-friendly movie program during the September school holidays, although this will depend on COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings. Movies will be free for Club Wyndham South Pacific owners and their guests and we intend to have an array of movie-related snacks available at the restaurant.
