July 24, 2020 | Latest News, Resort Report

Hi all,
It is great to once again provide you with a club update through Resort Report. I’m David Wray and my role as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions, Procurement, Property Development and Technical Services sees me in charge of all of your club refurbishments. I have been with Wyndham for over 15 years, and before that in Choice Hotels, and other various hotel roles.
This update will provide you with information on refurbishment projects currently in planning by my team. First, however, I want to assure you that our teams continue to monitor the latest health and travel restrictions put in place by national and local governments in the South Pacific and update our policies as necessary. Naturally, this has forced some of our priorities to shift.
Fortunately, this week, there have been no changes to restrictions and we have not needed to make changes to our policies. You can see our most recent cancellation policy here.
GM Spotlight Series
We continue our General Manager Spotlight series, which is designed to highlight both the benefits of our club destinations and resorts. Our GMs are well-positioned to provide handy tips and hints to help you get the most of out your stay.
This week, Club Wyndham Coffs Harbour GM Ricky Lee talks about the local must-see attractions on the New South Wales North Coast and the complimentary activities and equipment available to owners at the resort.
Refurbishments
It’s been a busy week for our project teams and contractors managing refurbishments across the Club Wyndham South Pacific portfolio.
Despite restrictions on travel and movement in some areas of Australia and disturbances to our supply chain, we have been able to forge on with our two major refurbishment projects at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Phillip Island and Club Wyndham Port Douglas.
Ramada Resort by Wyndham Phillip Island
Next week, we expect to begin stage eight of the 10-stage refurbishment project at Ramada Phillip Island.
The onsite resort team is making final preparations on 45 of the villas where contractors have finished, while the Deluxe and Grand villas are also close to completion. The entire project is slated to be finished in September this year, provided there are no further restrictions with COVID-19.
All villas will feature new designs with fresh paint, new furniture and décor, and kitchen upgrades, while the newly acquired villas will include refurbished kitchens and bathrooms. Each of the Grand villas will also include a fireplace, a patio with a roof and high-quality finishes.
These recent photos exhibit one of the standard units.

Club Wyndham Port Douglas
We have reached the three quarter mark at Club Wyndham Port Douglas, with work due to start on the fourth stage in a few days’ time.
We have given the apartments a fresh concept with new paint, flooring, furniture, sofa beds and artwork. Each room will also be decorated with a real underwater photo of a part of the Great Barrier Reef – a nod to the world-famous attraction on the resort’s doorstep.
In previous Resort Reports, we have shown you the 1-bedroom apartments; in this update, we will exhibit how the refurbishment has transformed the club hotel rooms.

The project is expected to be completed next month.
Our project teams are grateful for the positive feedback we have received from owners who have stayed in the refurbished rooms. Please let us know what you think through your post-stay survey or share a picture of your apartment on our Club Wyndham South Pacific owner Facebook group.
Future refurbishments
We are currently working on our property development program for next year. I am pleased to reveal that Ramada Resort by Wyndham Golden Beach will be one of the properties refurbished in 2021. We will be creating a new concept for the rooms, with fresh colours and paint, and conducting some renovations on bathrooms.
We understand that some club owners enjoy the spa baths at the resort while others find them to be hazardous. Through the lens of club levies, they are expensive to maintain. We had therefore always intended to remove spa baths in some apartments while retaining them in others and owner feedback has convinced us that this is the right course of action.
We intend to refurbish rooms at Club Wyndham Dunsborough next year. While the exact details of this project are still being planned, it will involve an update of the bathrooms. The next step for us will be the development of a mock room that will form the basis for the project.
Finally, we will also be undertaking refurbishments at some of your favourites next year, including Club Wyndham Kirra Beach, some of the apartments at Club Wyndham Shoal Bay, Club Wyndham Melbourne, and Club Wyndham Denarau Island. Some of these will include only soft furnishings, painting and colours while others will be complete rennovations.
Please stay tuned for more details as these refurbishments are planned out in the coming months. The order of the projects and their timeframes may need to be adjusted depending on changes in COVID-19 restrictions. The existing restrictions do present some hurdles but our property development team is determined to ensure projects adhere to their budgets and optimise your levies money.
I look forward to sharing further updates with you and announcing more of the additional projects next year.
