Resort Update – 11 August

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve globally, there is still a great degree of uncertainty and speculation around the future of international travel.

INTERNATIONAL RESERVATIONS

We have chosen to take a month-by-month approach to resorts that generally require owners to take an international flight, in order to give our owners every opportunity to fulfil their long-standing reservations. To date we believed that this was the best way to deal with these reservations due to the speed in which government restrictions have changed.

However, we have now made the decision to disable new reservations for October 2020 and remove October 2020 waitlists for resorts in Fiji, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Hawaii and Europe.

At this time, we are not forcing the cancellation of existing October bookings at those resorts. Although it is unlikely international travel will be completely restored by then, there is a possibility that there may be travel bubbles formed between some countries. On the chance that owners may be able to take advantage of these reservations, we do not want to cancel unless there is absolute certainty.

Where owners live outside the country where they hold an October reservation, our current policy is that you can cancel without penalty up to 30 days before check-in for bookings made 13 months to 61 days in advance, provided that the reservation was made prior to July 8, 2020. If the reservation was made with expired credits, a voucher will be issued for travel at a later date. Reservations made after July 8, 2020, are subject to standard cancellation policies.

REDUCED TAXES FOR FIJI RESERVATIONS

The Fijian government has announced significant changes to the taxes payable by tourists when staying in Fiji. They have removed the Services Turnover tax (STT) and reduced the Environmental Climate Adaptation Levy (ECAL). These taxes were payable by all owners staying at Club Wyndham Denarau Island. We have updated the credit chart to show the revised taxes payable effective from 1 August 2020.
