August 15, 2020 | Resort Report

We saw New Zealand re-implement COVID-19 restrictions again this week, in a sign that we are not yet out of the pandemic. Our teams continue to monitor the latest government updates and we are always poised to change our cancellation policy if necessary.
I would like to thank club owners for their patience since March, when travel restrictions began in response to the spread of COVID-19. Our teams are doing their best to strike a balance between providing plenty of notice about cancellations while giving owners every opportunity to fulfil long-standing reservations and to enjoy their resorts.
Club Wyndham Torquay
We are pleased to provide information on a project to update common spaces at Club Wyndham Torquay. The resort is a mixed-use property with club owned apartments as well as other apartments owned by individuals. The refurbishment of the common areas is primarily a project that sits with the property’s owner corporation who are assisted by Resort Management by Wyndham, the property manager. Representatives from Club Wyndham South Pacific sit on the owners’ corporation.
The resort’s reception area has been recently renovated, and you can see the results of this in the gallery below. The reception desk has been given a new top and white panelling, while two green walls have been added for colour.
The rest of the project will involve upgrading the heating systems in the indoor pool, outdoor spa and outdoor kids’ pool as well as re-painting the indoor pool area, interior corridors and public areas, and re-painting and re-rendering the exterior of the building.
The undercover drop-off/pick-up area is scheduled to have its roofing replaced and all balconies on level three of the resort are to be enclosed, so that they can be utilised in all weather.
Higgins has been appointed by the owners’ corporation to carry out the painting and rendering, while J Abbott Constructions is the contractor overseeing the work on the driveway and level three balconies. The work is scheduled to be completed by this December.
Next year further works will be undertaken including the re-painting of the ceilings in the resort common areas and re-carpeting of corridors. Dates for this work are yet to be confirmed; we will provide more information in upcoming editions of Resort Report.
Club Wyndham Port Douglas
The refurbishment of Club Wyndham Port Douglas has now concluded.
During July and August, our Property Development team oversaw the refurbishment of all 88 Club Wyndham South Pacific apartments at the resort. The apartments were all given new paint, flooring, furniture, sofa beds and artwork, including underwater photos of the Great Barrier Reef, unquestionably one of the region’s most famous attractions.
Our team has appreciated your positive feedback about the fresh look. All apartments are returning online and are being utilised in bookings moving forward.
Our refurbishment program is designed to ensure that your club apartments are well maintained and refreshed. We enjoy hearing your feedback about these projects and I invite you to share your experiences in our post-stay surveys.
Our owners have also contributed some images of their recent stays in refurbished rooms on our official Facebook group and I would encourage you to join to be part of the discussion and share your own photos. You will just need to supply your owner number when you go to join.
We look forward to welcoming you to your resorts soon.
