Resort Update – 31 December 2021

December 31, 2021 | Latest Announcements

COVID-19 has become more pervasive in Australia after restrictions were recently eased in several states. Fewer restrictions are part of a planned evolution in the handling of the virus from pandemic to endemic, where COVID-19 will eventually become more commonplace but more manageable.

Throughout the pandemic, we have followed rules set by government and health authorities, as governments are equipped with vast health expertise, resources and statistics to make informed decisions to manage situations like COVID-19.

POTENTIAL OF COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES

We have said in previous communication that, as COVID-19 begins to be handled as an endemic virus, there will be cases of COVID-19 at your resorts – in much the same way as there will be elsewhere in the community.

There is no cause to panic. Our resort teams will manage situations, if they are to emerge. At the start of the pandemic, we set up a cleaning regime in consultation with a global expert in the hygiene field and our staff are using leading sanitary products.

Although the vast majority of people in the South Pacific are now vaccinated and have a lesser chance of being seriously affected by COVID-19, there are ways you can minimise your chance of contracting it:

  • Observe good hand hygiene
  • Practise social distancing
  • Keep interactions with parties outside your family and friends brief
  • Wear a mask in the high-risk situations identified by government

POTENTIAL OF ISOLATION

In most jurisdictions, a positive COVID-19 test will trigger a government-mandated isolation period. In circumstances where it is not permissible or possible for you to drive back home and serve the isolation order there, our teams will do the best they can to either accommodate you on the property or help you find alternative accommodation. In cases of an extended stay at a club apartment, you can utilise your vacation credits or the same cash rate offered under Fun Time, or a mix of both.

This is a peak period of the year and your Club Wyndham South Pacific resorts are generally fully booked, so it is possible that owners or guests testing positive to COVID-19 while on holiday will need to serve an isolation period elsewhere, if it exceeds the period of their stay. Our teams will do their utmost to help you find an alternative.

Please remember these restriction changes are also uncharted territory for our resort teams and Owner Services team. While they will endeavour to provide the best service they can, we expect changes in restrictions will result in more procedural work and take more time.

HEALTH INSURANCE

We recommend that you take out travel insurance for your domestic travels and read the fine print to ensure it provides adequate coverage for possible COVID-19-related expenses.

While this was not the ideal topic to have to write about on New Year’s Eve, we wanted to reassure you that our teams are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and are preparing for any eventuality that may occur in the coming weeks.

If you need to speak with the Owner Services team about your booking, please call:

As we draw to the end of 2021, on behalf of us all, Happy New Year, and we hope that 2022 sees fewer restrictions on travel. Please keep safe and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
