Resort Update – Denarau Island Announcement

November 8, 2021 | Latest Announcements

With an increasing amount of excitement about the easing of travel restrictions and several jurisdictions releasing plans to resume international travel, we wanted to provide you with the latest information on the club’s overseas properties.

CLUB WYNDHAM DENARAU ISLAND
We are pushing ahead with our plans to open Club Wyndham Denarau Island on December 1.

We are extremely excited to finally announce the reopening of Club Wyndham Denarau Island. All facilities at the resort, including its pools and food and beverage outlets will be open. While it has been closed, the resort has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades that we cannot wait to showcase. Some key projects include:

  • A transformation of pool restaurant and bar, Dua Tale, and its commercial kitchen
  • Further work on the Latte Lounge and a new Sugar Shack serving sweet treats at the beachfront
  • Replacement of in-room whitegoods in many rooms
  • Purchase of an inflatable movie screen for Sunday Dive-in Movie nights
  • New games, including a new pool table, giant chess set, Jenga and noughts and crosses
  • Refurbishing the hot pool
  • Purchase of new equipment including kayaks and paddleboards for club members to enjoy on a complimentary basis

Important information

Please be aware, the Fiji Government is only admitting travellers who are vaccinated with the Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson or Moderna vaccines. You should expect to be asked about your vaccination status both upon entry to Fiji and at the resort.

COVID-19 has changed the shape of travel in Fiji. You can access more government resources here and see how they apply to the resort here. Club Wyndham Denarau Island is an accredited resort under CareFiji.

The resort has a relationship with an approved medical practitioner to facilitate the required tests in a seamless fashion at the resort at your cost, which is currently estimated $45FJD for the RAT and $240FJD per person for the PCR test (this test is for the trip home). These rates are current and may be subject to change.

For more details about Fiji’s testing requirements, please follow this link to the resort’s welcome information on the Club Wyndham South Pacific website.

If a guest or their party returns a positive COVID-19 test result, government agencies will be notified and there is a requirement to self-isolate for 10 days. We will endeavour to continue accommodating you at the resort, subject to availability and at your cost (which can be paid with credits or cash if you have no credits available). Our sincere hope is that this circumstance is exceptionally rare; however, as the world begins opening up to vaccinated travellers – who can still catch COVID-19 – we have no way of completely insulating club resorts against all cases of COVID-19. Our teams will do their best to manage the situation should it arise, provide support to all owners and guests, and adhere to government requirements. Please be aware of and consider that these are some of the risks of travelling internationally at this point in time.

Travellers entering Fiji are required to have medical travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage due to the possibility that you contract COVID-19 and are forced to extend your stay.

By government requirement, resort facilities are only able to open at 80 per cent of capacity. Guests also must download the CareFiji contact tracing app and have their Bluetooth switched on at all times during their stay.

As you can tell, there are additional costs and risks associated with travelling to Fiji – and international travel more broadly. If, after perusing the links required, you are not comfortable with either the costs or risks, Owner Services have given all owners checking in during December 2021 and January 2022 the option to cancel. Please do so on or before Friday, November 12 and the team will return your credits to your account. Where your credits are expired, they will be subject to a new travel by date.

Please be aware that it is up to you to ensure your reservation is cancelled. If you do not receive a text message or a cancellation confirmation email, your reservation is still confirmed.

OTHER OVERSEAS PROPERTIES
We do not yet have an opening date for Club Wyndham Dreamland Bali and Club Wyndham Normandy will be closed during December. Club Wyndham Sea Pearl is open for bookings but we understand there may be limited flights directly to Phuket at this point, although Australia and New Zealand are on a revised list of approved countries. You can read more about Phuket’s “Sandbox” requirements at the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s website.

RESTRICTIONS RESOURCES
Before making a reservation at the above locations, please use the latest government advice as a starting point. You will also need to check the restrictions at your home jurisdiction for your return trip – for example, the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Restriction Checker and New Zealand’s Unite Against COVID-19 page.

Please be aware that it is your responsibility for ensuring that you meet any conditions for travelling and staying at a club property. You should also be aware that travel restrictions could resume or change at any time and travel is undertaken at your own risk.

There is widespread optimism about the promised significant easing of travel restrictions and the prospect of international travel resuming. Our teams are excited about welcoming you back soon.
